How to protect your skin from the sun

The summer is approaching and more sunny days are coming, so it is time to think how to protect your skin from the sun. We will share some important rules.

First thing is to use the right sunscreen for your skin. Nevertheless, in the sunny days it is also advisable to wear sunglasses and to cover your head.

Most important things while choosing sunscreen

Check the Sun Protection Factor (SPF). It shows how many times longer you can stay in the sun without the risk of sunburn. However, you need to re-apply sunscreen every 4 hours and every time after swimming, even if it is labeled waterproof.

You need to choose SPF according to place you live and your skin type. If you have very light skin and you live in Miami, you can start with SPF 50 or even more. If you have dark skin you also need to use sunscreen to protect your skin. For dark skin SPF 30 might be sufficient.

For children or people with sensitive skin it is better to choose sunscreens with Zinc oxide or Titanium dioxide as they are less likely to cause the allergic reaction. Note that cream with strong smell might contain allergens.

Make sure you choose sunscreen with both UVA and UVB filters.

Natural products containing sunblock

Coconut oil naturally contains SPF up to 7. Also antioxidants in it helps to prevent inflammation and sunburn.

Shea butter may contain SPF up to 10.

Jojoba oil contains myristic acid, which has around  SPF 4.

Carrot seed oil is rich in vitamin A and has some antioxidant properties and has SPF up to 40.

Also Raspberry seed oil contains high natural SPF (around 28).

Please note, that just slathering your skin with naturals oils would not give your skin proper protection it needs. However, it is good idea to choose sunscreen containing some of these wonderful oils.
